Practice Times and Location

The Pipes and Drums practice every Thursday evening from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Occasionally we will have Saturday practices as a full band.

We meet at Mewata Armoury located on 11th Street at the very west end of 8th Avenue SW, in Calgary.

Membership Composition

The Calgary Highlanders Pipes and Drums is an authorized Canadian Forces Regimental Band, composed of military and volunteer members. For more information on the the volunteer and military requirements refer to the appropriate section below. All potential members will need to conduct an audition to become playing members of the band.

Volunteer Members

People wishing to join the Calgary Highlanders as volunteer members are encouraged to contact the band using the below Contact form. We are always looking for skilled players and dancers.

Unfortunately, we cannot take on beginning players but we would be happy to recommend a good instructor.

Military Members

The military positions are open to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants who are 16 years or older. We will be adding more information on the military positions, but to start for the general recruitment process please see the below link from the CAF music branch.
