SUMMARY:Veterans' Writing Workshop - Book Launch
DESCRIPTION:https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=WarInPieces \n\n\n\nMeet the authors of “A Mile in Their Boots” on June 2\, when we celebrate this collection of stories from our Veterans’ Writing Workshop.\nThe book was written as a compilation of the works of Calgary military authors who participated in the Veterans Writing Workshop\, sponsored in part by The Calgary Highlanders Regimental Funds Foundation.  The workshop takes place from September to June in Calgary and is free of charge for serving CAF members or veterans.  Last year\, two Calgary Highlanders participated and they are both included in this book.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nThe Book Launch is a free event at the Military Museums featuring the authors themselves reading passages from the stories they wrote while taking part in the War in Pieces Veterans’ Writing Workshop. They will be available to sign books and answer questions. SUMMARY:100th Anniversary Concert
DESCRIPTION:On August 6\, 2022 the Regimental Pipes and Drums of the Calgary Highlanders will be proudly commemorating our 100th Anniversary by playing a concert on St. Patrick’s Island from 1-3.\n\nThis is the same location our predecessors played for the first time to the residents of Calgary on August 6\, 1922.\n\nIt’s our pleasure to also perform with the KOCR and RCA brass and reed bands for this special show! \nIn addition to the concert there will also be members of the unit and regimental museum conducting community engagement activities at the event site between 1200 and 1600 hrs. \nJoin us in celebrating this significant milestone for both the regiment and the city of Calgary.

SUMMARY:Into the Summit - Caving Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The Hamilton Gault Memorial Fund is again putting on an exciting adventure in support of mental health and raising money for the treatment of Occupational Stress Injury. \nVisit the Website for more information \n\n\n\nOn April 13\, 2025\, participants from The Military Museums\, PPCLI\, and Calgary communities\, will descend into Rat’s Nest Cave near Canmore\, Alberta. Doing so\, these adventurers will raise vital funds for and awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder and its devastating effects on individuals and families. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nCaves are dark\, otherworldly environments. Most people have not had the experience of total darkness\, moving through difficult terrain. \nIt’s an unfamiliar world. Like many of those who suffer from occupational stress injuries\, they too have found themselves in an unfamiliar place\, struggling to navigate the darkness. \nAt over 4km long\, Rat’s Nest Cave is one of the longest caves in Canada and there are no lights\, handrails or permanent lights. \n\nParticipants are raising funds to participate in this adventure and experience this challenging environment. Each has committed to raising funds by taking pledges to support their participation in this adventure.
